I've never been waxed before, what should I expect?
The first time may be more uncomfortable than future appointments. Intimate waxing and areas where the hair is more course are more uncomfortable that non-course areas. There may be soreness and reddening of the area and blood spots may appear. This is nothing to worry about and is completely normal. The process should become easier and more comfortable during your subsequent waxes.
How long will I be hair free?
This will vary from client to client as everyone's hair grows at different rates. If you are new to waxing a small amount of hair re-growth may begin in a relatively short time, however, once you are in a regular routine your wax should last 4-6 weeks. Aim to book your first few appointments every 4 weeks, and after that, you should be able to assess the best time span to suit your needs.
I am taking medication, can I still be waxed?
Not everyone taking medication can receive a waxing treatment, this is because some medication can cause the skin to thin. A full consultation will be given before the treatment commences. If you are using Retin-A, Differin, Accutane or any acne reduction cream you must wait 6 months following the end of the medication before you can receive a waxing treatment.
It is my time of the month, can I still have a treatment?
If you are not having an intimate wax, there is no reason why you cannot receive your treatment. Please be aware, however, that in the lead up and during this time, your skin may be more sensitive and the treatment may feel more uncomfortable than at other times in your cycle.
How much will it hurt?
If it is your first time, then it is likely to be more uncomfortable than subsequent treatments. Every step is taken to make you as comfortable as possible. Many 'first time' clients have said to me that the discomfort is nowhere near as bad as they were expecting. You will be talked through the process and as you feel more at ease with your therapist and the products you may find you don't really notice the pain at all. In fact, some of my clients claim that they find the treatment relaxing.
Will you use strip or hot wax for my treatment?
I use both strip and hot waxes for the majority of my treatments. If you have a preference for either wax then let me know and, where suitable, I will endeavour to work to your preferences. All intimate treatments, Hollywood, Playboy and Brazilian, use a combination of strip and hot wax making staying smoother for longer a more comfortable experience.
